[Ntop] GDVERCHK: Unable to load gd on OS X 10.3

Would this error cause the web service to not start up?

There are no other errors when ntop loads (other than an ASN: one) but 
the web service does not respond and a port scan does not show 3000 to 
be open.

I followed instructions at 
http://homepage.mac.com/duling/halfdozen/ntop-Howto.html and everything 
seemed to go ok.

I am starting ntop as follows:

/usr/local/ntop/bin root# sudo ./ntop -P /usr/local/ntop/share/ntop -u 
root
